Halloween Safety and Beautiful Sookie

 

Hi Everpawdy..... I have not done a blog for a while.... I'm still trying to get myself and mine mom used to doing one... One of us is a slacker.... And I don't think it is me.... BOL .......        

Today I want to talk about Halloween... And the safety for all us animals....

Did you know that a lot of candies are very dangerous for us dogs and cats... Especially chocolate... It is very important that we not be allowed to get any of that candy stuffs...... Personally I don't think it's very fair that I don't get candies too.... I did let mommy dress me up and everything... *sigh* 

I know.... I know.... It's bad for me... .... So I will be good and not sneak any of the candies that is for the trick or treaters....                                                                 

But I will dress up and look pretty for them..... I am Snow White this year.... You can see my dress up pictures on mine FB page.... I looked pretty cute.... I know this coz Everpawdy told me so....BOL 

That's another topic we have to be careful of on Halloween.... What we let our parents dress us up in.... Sometimes those costumes can be dangerous.... So..... Before we let our parents dress us up in those funny costumes.... We need to make sure they are safe... And don't hurt us by not fitting well... Or just not being safe to wear.... If they choke us. We need to cough so our moms know and take it off us... Gotta be safe... For sure....

And now our next topic of Halloween Safety.....and the most important.... Do you see those pictures I posted of that super beautiful black cat.... That is mine cousin Sookie.... She is Berry Bootiful, don't you think? 

Sookie lives at home with her mom and sisfur (a cutie dog named Rory) ..... And her mom takes very good care of her....  

Here's the thing.... Did you know that there are some crazy people out in the world that like to use Black cats at Halloween... Some people just like to go adopt a black cat for Halloween and then take it back to the shelter after Halloween is over.... Because they only wanted it for "decoration".... How wrong is that??!!  They take them back and lie and  say.... It just didn't work out... That is so wrong... 

And..... Some people like to get the black cats and torture them at Halloween... Can you believe that??!!! 

We all know there are some mean, evil, sick people's in the world.... All the time..... But on Halloween, it's the people who torture the beautiful black cats that are the worst of the worst.

Most Shelters won't allow adoptions of black cats the whole month of October, just for this reason.  That is very smart of them.

So if you have a black cat.... If you have any cat.... But especially if you have a black cat.... Please.... Please.... Keep it inside Halloween night... And well,  I'd start leaving them inside right now.... Keep them safe... 

Just like Bootiful Sookie is safe inside with her mom.... Keep your  inside with you and snuggle up close for a wonderful night...

Hi everpawdy....I hope y'all have been having a great summer.... it's that time of year when the kiddies go back to school.... and the mom's are left wondering what to do with their day...

well..... I have a suggestion..... grab a great book and start reading.... and if you have furkids at home, like me.... then reading to us furkids is a pawsome way to spend the day!

This book is a wonderful story about a soldier returning from war... bringing a dog, Trooper, home to the family of his fallen Commander.... its full of lots of sub-stories that warm your heart... make you laugh... and make you cry...

The wife of the fallen commander runs an animal rescue..... see.... that's the reason I love this book... Rescues hold a very special place in mine heart...

My sisfur Lil-e is a rescue... and she is mine bestest fren.....

This book is pretty centered around this special rescue dog... Trooper...  the dog the soldier is bringing home... because his commander rescued Trooper in the war zone... and they became best buddies.... so it was only right that Trooper be brought to the states... to the commander's family.. where he belongs..... and..... believe it or not.... Trooper has a mission of his own... and he pipes in throughout the book to tell you his side of the story.... he is such a smart dog....

did I tell you that I love him.... he is my hero.... he is smart... brave.... and knows just what he needs to do to help this family... and finish his mission.

Do you all know a special rescue dog?  Have you added a shelter dog to your family? 

Ya know... that's one of the most special messages in this book.... there are hundreds of thousands of animals out there that need to be rescued....need to be saved.... need to just have a family that loves them and takes care of them....and gives them a nice safe place to live.

Shelters are over crowded with beautiful dogs like Trooper... and like the other Shelter dogs in this book... and Shelter workers work very hard every day and night to take care of them, and try to help them find just the right forever home.  And not just the shelter workers... there are Foster Families too.  Families that will take in some of these Shelter dogs, especially the ones too young to stay at the shelter.... or the ones too sick to stay at the shelter... Foster Families take these furkids into their homes and take care of them.... and do you know what they get in return??  The get unconditional love from the pet... love beyond what you can imagine.

Miss Cathy does this in her real life.... see.... she doesn't just write wonderful books... she also helps at the shelter.... and she fosters dogs all the time.... Just like Trooper, Miss Cathy is my hero too... she is super Pawsome.

Have you been too busy lately?

Hello everpawdy.... I don't know about you... But I have sure been way too busy lately... It's a really hard job supervising the mom and making sure she gets her chores done... But I have to do it.. Because if she doesn't get her chores done, then I can't get on the 'puter... I don't understand the fairness in that, but there is it!!   
But today.... Well.... Today she didn't get any chores done... She left... Went on a little trip to a little town on the outskirts of where we live... They were having a big adoption event at their animal shelter...it's called PAWs, in Ft Walton Beach.... And they have lots of beautiful pups up for adoption... And cats...and big birds....and....and.....a snake....ewe.... Mom also went to see her fren there.... And.... I think to secretly look for another dog... Yep.... She has been saying things.....Out Loud.... About wanting a big dog... 
I have no idea where she gets these ideas.... Me and mine sisfurs are all rather small.. Why in the world would she want a big dog now too... She said German Shepherd... That's a really big dog.
Now... I must say, I've been giving this a lot of thought... If the mom gets a big dog... She wants him as a puppy... So that means... Lots of training, right??  Sooooooo.... I'm thinking......I can help her with that training... And I can train him how to go fetch.... Like.... "Go fetch me a treat". And..... "Go fetch me some water" and..... "Go fetch me my harness and leash so we can go for a walks".... 
Yep... Maybe having a big dog is not such a bad idea after all.... I wonder if I could teach him how to open the fridge... Mom always has good things in there.... Like carrots... My favorite.... Yes.... Yes.... I'm thinking having a big dog in the family is a very good idea......indeed....
So tell me..... Do any of y'all have a family of small dogs and then decided to get a big dog?  I am curious.... I'd like to know what to expect... And be prepared.... Just in case I have to protest to the mom and all...  So please leave messages... Tell us your thoughts.. And what you think about bringing a big dog puppy into a house with a Maltese...and three Shih-Tzu....

Where's my mom been?

Well everpawdy.... Can you believe it... Mine mom went on a trip..... Without me!!  Shocking, I know.  And...... She took her iPad with her, so I couldn't get on my Facebook page....and I couldn't even get on my blog.... Not that I know what I'm doing on my blog... It's brand new... And I'm still trying to figure it all out... So, please be patient with me as I learn how to blog....and try to teach the mom a thing or two about it too....

Now.... About where the mom went... With her iPad.... Grrrrr...... Mom went to San Antonio to the RWA conference...(that's Romance Writers of America).  No... Mine mom is not a romance writer... She spends her time with me... And reading the books... And sometimes she reads them to me and tells me about them... It's pretty Pawsome...
Anypaw..... Mom went to the conference so she could go to the one night when they set up for the fans to come it and get autographs of their favorite authors.... There were lots of them there that mom loves.... But her most favorite is a lady she knows... Catherine Mann.... She writes really Pawsome Military Romance... And ya know what??  She sometimes put dogs in her books.... Yep.... Can you believe it...
She works with a rescue by her house in real life...and she fosters dogs all the time... And she's not afraid to take in the sick fosters and help to make them all better.... She is just a super Pawsome lady.... And her husband is retired Air Force.... Now that is something special indeed... I just love military peoples.... Well... Mine dad is Retired Navy... So I should...BOL.... Our military is the best!

So.... Mom spent time with Miss Cathy while in San Antonio... She met some other authors too.... But more on them later....
Mom told me that Miss Cathy has a new book coming out on August 5, 2014....
And it's called Shelter Me.... And mom was so very lucky to have been given an advanced copy of that book.... And she read it to me... And me and mom both love this book.....
And you know what??? It has a dog in it.... A dog ....who started his life in Iraq... And who was rescued and brought back to the states... And.... You are not gonna believe this..... But this dog... He has a mission.... Yep.... And he talks about it in that book.... He is a very smart dog.... Mine mom said she has never read such a great book that has the dogs point of view in it too....
His name is Trooper.... And did I tell you he is smart.... He is mine new favorite dog... I think I have a crush on him...BOL

Let me tell you a little about that book.... Trooper was saved by Col. Allen McDaniel .... Trooper learned to love and trust the Commander.... Then the Commander is killed.... And Sgt Mike Kowalski has taken the task of bringing Trooper home to the states... To the Commanders family... Where the Commanders wife runs Second Chance Ranch Animal Rescue...
And you know what... That may be Sgt Mike's mission.... But boy does Trooper  have a mission too... You are not gonna believe what Trooper has to do to make his mission complete....
Mine mom said she loved the story... The twist and turns... The ups and downs.... The struggles and the love..... But ya know what I loved the most.....Trooper.... He is one smart dog.... And I just love him.... And I just bet, if you read this book... You will love him too!!
Mommy says this book made her laugh and cry... (It did... I saw the tears myself) .... And I have to admit... There was a moment there with Trooper that I had tears in my little pup eyes too...
People have people hero's.... But me..... I'm a dog.... So today.... My hero is Trooper....

But...... Peoples...... There is one more very very important thing I have to tell you about this book....
There is a character in the book.... She works at the veterinarians office.... And..... Are you ready for this.... Her name is Maisie..... Yep....Maisie........ Miss Cathy named her after me....little ole me..... I am so honored....and it was so exciting when mom read me the parts where I'm in it.... I'm doing a happy dance and a doggie Squeeeeeee...... Excitement!!

The book comes out August 5th.... Did I tell ya that once already...lol..... You should go buy it.... Read it.... Then come back here and tell me what you think about it...and what you think about Trooper....
And even Maisie.... (I just love it!!)

Maisie here....  I finally have it done.... I have started a blog with mine mom..... now all we have to do is figure it all out....
I hope you all will join us on here and encourage us to write more and more....
I just love to talk about things that are important.... and things that are not so important...
I love to share my thoughts on everything.... from my favorite dog food.... my favorite toys... and even favorite books that mine mom reads to me.... I usually talk a lot... and have lots to say... but for now I am just gonna see how this works and post something... I am determined to figure this out and become the best blogger I can be.... this is the perfect job for me, ya know.... because I do love to lay on the computer desk.... and I even have my very own pillow on here too....
